Siddharth Nayak, Ph.D.

Postdoctoral Research Scientist, Department of Radiology, Weill Cornell Medicine,

Siddharth Nayak developed an interest in biomedical signal processing research while pursuing his Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from India from 2010 2014. Hthen pursued this path to obtain a Ph.D. in interdisciplinary neuroscience from Taiwan from 2014 – 2020 and is currently working as a postdoctoral researcher in USA since June 2021His Ph.D. work earned him a few travel awards in international conferences. During his Ph.D. training, he studied the role of emotional processes on response inhibition using electroencephalography (EEG) and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). Besides working on EEG and fMRI, his research interests span across other biomedical signals like ECG, EMG, etcetera. He has worked on linking heart rate variability (HRV) with EEG and aims to integrate multimodal imaging technologies to gain better insight into cognitive processes in human brain.

Siddharth’s current role as a postdoctoral researcher involves understanding the relationship between glucose metabolism as measured by fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG)-positron emission tomography (PET) and activation/de-activation of blood oxygenation level dependent (BOLD) signal. When he is not doing research, Siddharth enjoys killing time trying out different variants of coffee and gorging on food from different cultures to savor his palate!
